The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace

The city’s biggest attraction is the Basilique de Notre Dame de la Paix, a smaller replica of St Paul’s Cathedral in Rome.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro is a Christian religious buildings the largest in the world, whose appearance resembles that of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Located in Yamoussoukro, capital of Côte d'Ivoire, its location has been chosen by the country's first president, Felix Houphouet-Boigny in 1983. The Guinness Book of Records recognized in 1989 as the largest religious building in the Christian world. The Basilica is still a place of fervent Catholic faith in Africa.
